That's right ya'll, we had such a hoot last year, we're doing it again!

Saturday, June 28th form 3pm til Sunup,
on the Zegri cousin's back 40.

Just like last year, we'll be rustling up some squirrel and varmint for your victuals. Be so kind as to bring extry varmint and beer. We'll have plenty corn and greens too. Cousin LaRue might even cook up some shrimp with they heads on, like they do down in the crescent city.

and o'course, back by popler demand, Ol Man Tucker will be serving up moonshine by the spoonful from his Granpappy's secret still!

So borrow some shoes for the trek and sho'nuff bring your musical instruments for the hill country hootenanny that'll happen after suckin' down some o that there 'shine!

Hiya kin n cuzin folk!

I wanted to put a question to all y'all, meaning all of the loving residents and regulars of the napa st homestead:

Rey offered up the bottle caps that have been auspiciously collected in the garage for quite some time now, and I wanted to put the question to all of you; is it alright if I commandeer the bottle cap collection for a large art project that I am working on? We need TONS of bottle caps, and frankly most bars just toss em out with the trash. I have started spreading the word with some friends who work at bars, and some places that throw regular parties, but your collection is the MOTHERLODE!

Friends and Family!

This is your official notification for the fifth Annual Holiday Celebration at the Zegri Compound!

It will begin around noon and go until the wee hours. This is an all inclusive family event so bring the kids if you have any or just borrow somebody else's, bring the dog, bring the cat, bring yer grandma (as long as she's hot).

In years past it has been a revolving door of fun, so please feel free to stop by before, after or during any family obligations. Or feel free to hang out all day.

Be sure to bring an instrument, we'll play some really bad music at some point.

There will be some food provided by our in house Chefs Reymundo (one of the only times he cooks all year), Heidi, Erica, and Jessica. However you are strongly encouraged to bring one of your holiday culinary favorites for pot luck type enjoyment.

*HINT* Meat and Whiskey always go over well.

Home Made Nog (Ricardo's contribution) will be provided, but bring your favorite libation to share.

AS ALWAYS THERE WILL BE A GIFT FOR EVERYONE UNDER THE TREE!!!

his idea is to translocate existing tribes and tribe networks, rather than just beginning all over again somewhere else.

I have worked in the dotcom industry for years and as much as I love my tribe friends I cannot have tribe's bad service anymore. I have set up a ning social network, not just a profile but a social network called extribers.

You are all welcome to come and join and if you go to extribers.ning.com/ and sign up I will be happy to create any tribes that you are currently a member of. I will set up the tribe and all you need to do is come and join and then spread the word through your tribe blog that you are at extribers.ning.com/ and would like your friends to join you.

Ning is not perfect and it is not just like tribe and I am aware of this but if a sufficient number of people start to use this new network I will be happy to design, build and host a social network with every function tribe currently has and more for us to use.

If you do not know how to use Ning.com or if you have any problems signing up then send me a PM and I will happily talk you through step by step, or even do it for you myself. But once you sign up let me know what tribes you would like to see added there and I will add them for you.

Please spread the word because the only way this will work is if everyone joins up. I don't want to lose my tribe friends and I think tribe can't hang on much longer and it is no longer a fun place to be :(

wow, you missed one of the best events ever!!!! uncle tucker busted a nut to bring us wonderful home brewed beer (jesse, awesome to meet you and drink your loverly brew!)...the still was dripping pure tasty moonshine (and it was goooood!!!)
curtis added a keg of IPA (wow, thank you SO much!)
steve contributed culinary skills with his rabbit stew (YUM. saved many people from falling over) and then there were the velveeta on wonderbread melts (thanks holly!) and the potato chip and mayonnaise on wonderbread sandwiches - with pickle on the side...
and the bbq bunny, hot corn on the cob, new orleans shrimp....
plus the jamming! we had many varieties and change overs and the music got drunker and louder around the fire pit.
oh, and did i mention that cuzzin ben and cuzzing rey took a bath together in jed's bathhouse? hee hee.
i think this here'll be a shore nuff reason to make this an annual event. it shore was fun!

(Mike Jory/Times-Herald) In some Vallejo neighborhoods, criminals seem to have the upper hand and Vallejo is competing for a $1 million federal grant to help take those neighborhoods back, officials said Wednesday.
"Back in December, for instance, in the Millerville area, at 4:30 on a Wednesday afternoon, we heard a POW! POW! POW!, and listened for the expected car speeding away noise," said Vallejo Police Lt. Reggie Garcia.

"We followed the sound, found the car and found smoke still coming out of the gun. Everyone in the car denied involvement in anything. They'd been shooting at a rival drug dealer. In broad daylight. They are not intimidated."

The U.S. Justice Department Weed and Seed Grant program, which has awarded five-year $1 million grants to

several cities annually since 1991, aims to address this and other quality of life issues, Garcia said.
City officials have applied for the grant twice since 2003. Though rejected both times, they are optimistic this go around, said representatives of three of the community entities involved in the application process.

Increased community involvement is a main reason Garcia, for one, believes the city has a chance this time.

"We applied before for the downtown area only, and were told

there weren't enough people and there wasn't enough crime," Garcia said. "We were competing against communities with significant problems, like Hunters Point, the Bayview District and Oakland. When you think about their problems, we got no problems."
Vallejo's new targeted area includes more than 40,000 residents - nearly meeting the grant's 50,000 limit.

"This time, those other cities already have their grants," he said, improving Vallejo's chances.

The new application, for which the deadline is mid-August, will include mention of the city's Parolee Reentry Program, which in December was awarded a $1.2 million California Department of Corrections grant, though no money has yet been received, Garcia said.

There are 2,020 parolees in Solano County, about 800 in Vallejo at any given time, Garcia said. About 1,262 of them, more than 60 percent, re-offend, he added. The program aims to reduce recidivism by treating substance abuse, providing employment and housing assistance, education and peer support.

Garcia and Fighting Back Partnership's John Allen said that program should be a selling point for getting Vallejo the Weed and Seed Grant.

"They call it 'Weed and Seed' because it's meant to weed out (or in our case rehabilitate) the bad and plant the seeds for building human social capital in neighborhoods to allow revitalization," Garcia said.

A satisfying neighborhood buy-in is also a selling point, the men said.

"There are neighborhoods with a relatively high reported crime rate that have expressed willingness to come together to address this," Allen said. "These people have had enough of having their lives impacted by crime. They're now willing to work with police."

Vallejo's new community prosecutor, who goes after local crime that may not make the county prosecutor's to priority list, should also help the city win the grant, Garcia said.

Also improving the city's chances is the involvement of its business community and the Chamber of Commerce, which is distributing a Neighborhood Satisfaction Survey to help satisfy the grant's community outreach requirement, said chamber president and CEO Rick Wells. The survey went out to chamber members and is also available at www.vallejochamber.com, at the chamber's 427 York St. office, or by calling 648-5262. Some 200 responses have already come in, Wells said. Responses will continue being accepted through the end of July, he said.

"The board is in full support of improving the quality of life in Vallejo," Wells said. "I live in an impacted area, and this has been a great process. People are sick of crime, and want to be part of the solution."

But, even if the grant application is rejected again, progress has been made in the attempt, the men said.

"We've identified the target areas and begun bringing the community together," Allen said. "And that's what the grant is meant to do."

Our lovable mascot and bundle of joy, Maggie, has a terrible legion on her eye. Our doggie opthamologist—ouch, you can imagine how expensive that is—told us it needs to be removed and fast or she could go totally blind and even worse, it could spread into cancer.

Once we were able to stop sobbing about how sick our beloved doggie was, we realised that things being as tight as they are financially, there was just no way we were going to be able to afford her operation and outpatient care. The total bill is going to push around 1600 bucks, with 1200 going just to the operation.

You know folks, in general we try not to double dip and have fund raisers or rent parties to keep our theater open, but just this once we implore you to attend this show—featuring Tom Jonesing (Unplugged!), Single Entendre, Sunshine Fortress, and a whole lot more. For those who know me, this is a Shocker!!!

Tuesday, while out to dinner with the visiting Swedes at work, I tried fish and LIKED it. Now I don't expect that it will necessarily happen again. But I think there is definitely something to thin strips of yellow tail with basil and caramelized onions. Oh my gawd it was good. And so were the prawns, and Alaskan Halibut. BELIEVE IT OR NOT!!!

So, you may ask, why the sudden change? And well, I have no idea, but I do know that if you want to have seafood with me, your best bet is to take me to the Slanted door. And from there...baby steps....that's right...baby steps.
